In the Homestretch!

We're in the Homestretch!
It's hard to believe that the school year is almost over. As always, please continue to refer to the district's online learning portal for library, P2 and counseling activities, as well as enrichment activities for art and music. Also, please don't forget to have your child complete this week's PE exit ticket. Thank you!

5th Grade Recognition
All fifth grade families should have received an invitation for the 5th Grade Drive-Thru Recognition Ceremony which will take place on Monday, June 15th (with Tuesday, June 16th as a rain date). Miss Button's class will begin at 9:30 followed by Mrs. McDonald's class at 10:00. We will conclude with Mr. Meaney's class at 10:30. Please do not arrive early and remember that there will not be access to the building on this day. With a great deal of help from the PTA, it should be a very nice send-off for our fifth graders!
Supply Pick-Up
Thank you to all of the families that were able to come and pick up your child's belongings this week. We still have quite a few unclaimed bags (see picture below). If you missed your pick-up time, you can come today from 8:00 - 12:00 or on Monday morning from 9:00 - 12:00. Two or three workbooks from our literacy program, CKLA, were sent home with the student supplies at most grade levels. As you have likely heard from your child's teacher, these were sent home as optional learning opportunities for the students to complete over the summer. They should not be returned in the fall.

Unclaimed Bags

Public Service Announcment: Label, Label, Label!
Please see the picture below that demonstrates the importance of labelling your child's belongings. This is only some of what's left of the Lost and Found after everyone came through the building this week!
Budget Vote
Don't forget to return your absentee ballot if you have not already done so! All ballots are due by Tuesday, June 9th at 5:00 p.m. If you can't get your ballot in the US mail by tomorrow (Saturday, June 6th, at the very latest), it is recommended that you drop your ballot in the ballot box that will be located in the District Office foyer on Monday, June 8th from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 pm or Tuesday, June 9th, from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The District Office is located at 300 Sanderson Drive. Thank you!
Yearbook Distribution
Unfortunately, the yearbooks will not be shipped until the last week of June. Lifetouch, the company that we use for photos and yearbooks, was also affected by the pandemic so they are arriving to schools later than planned. When we have a plan for the distribution of the yearbooks we will let you know!

Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism
Mrs. Clark, the principal at Onondaga Road, shared this link with me. Tomorrow morning at 10:00 CNN and Sesame Street are hosting a Town Hall for kids and families. According to the overview found in the link, the show will talk to kids about racism, the recent nationwide protests, embracing diversity, and being more empathetic and understanding. The website has information about how to watch the Town Hall and how to submit questions for the discussion.
Hope and Optimism
I stole another great picture from Facebook this week. The picture exemplifies the P2 strength of hope and optimism. I certainly hope Simon is correct. In the picture you will see his "Summer Selfie." Reflected in his sunglasses is a headline he'd like to see. We all would! Nice job, Simon!
Have a great rest of the week!
