BINGO!

This past Friday night many students and their families participated in the PTA’s 2nd Annual BINGO night. A great time was had by all. Thank you to Michele Hess, Mary Kay Devore, Terry Gentilcore, and all of the parents who helped out to make it such a success. Anthony Augello was the winner of the BINGO basket, and Megan Mathews won the chance to call out the BINGO numbers. She did an awesome job!
We had some visitors to East Hill last week. The 6th grade chorus came to visit our 5th graders. They sang a couple of songs, had the 5th grade chorus join in on a song, and Mr. Schuessler answered several questions that the 5th graders had about 6th grade and 6th grade chorus.
Mrs. Barry invited Dr. Paul Fitzgerald, Professor of Geology at Syracuse University, to come to speak to her 4th grade class. Dr. Fitzgerald has climbed hundreds of mountains. He showed the students several interesting slides from some of his climbs, and brought in mountain climbing gear and rock samples to pass around the class. This was a great follow-up to some of the recent articles Mrs. Barry’s class had read about a couple of different mountains.

The third grade chorus concert was held this past Wednesday. The students performed for the school during the day and for their families at night, where it was standing room only. They did a fantastic job.

The math words of the week are parallelogram (M), plane figure (T) solid figure (W), perpendicular lines (Th),  and intersecting lines (F). Speaking of math, check out the picture below that shows how Mr. Meaney’s 5th grade class used the snow to show multiplication of fractions using the area model. How cool is that? (get it?)

Have a great week!
