Welcome Back!

Positivity Project
Social Intelligence is this week's Positivity Project character strength focus. Our learning target is I am aware of other people's thoughts and actions. I understand why they do things. To learn more about this strength, click here. According to Positivity Project co-founder Jeff Bryan, social intelligence refers to a person’s ability to understand and manage interpersonal relationships. It is distinct from a person’s IQ or “book smarts.” It includes an individual’s ability to understand, and act on, the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors of other people. Examples of social intelligence include knowing when to talk or listen, what to say, and what to do.

Today's Positivity Project Assembly focused on the character strengths of love and fairness. Pat Driscoll, a top official for Division One Men's Basketball was our guest speaker. He talked about sportsmanship with the students and shared several stories that students enjoyed.

School Safety
As you are aware, Dr. Brown has been communicating about school security and safety. You can feel free to call him with questions at 1-315-487-4562, email him at cbrown@westgenesee.org or ask him in person at a special board meeting scheduled for this Wednesday, 2/28 at 7:00 p.m. Please know that East Hill and the West Genesee Central School District is committed to the safety and well-being of all our students at all times. Every school has a detailed school safety plan that we practice and update regularly. We continue to review these plans annually in an effort to eliminate any oversights and to provide continuity throughout our schools. As Dr. Brown has noted, we also have an excellent relationship with our local Camillus Police Department. We work together on an ongoing basis to ensure the safety of our schools. The safety of our students is our number one priority; it us up to all of us to be vigilant in this regard.

Education Fair
The Education Fair is only three weeks away! Please remind your child(ren) to return their packets to the office so that they can pick up a display board. Their completed packets will be returned to them with the display boards, which have been purchased again by our wonderful PTA. We have over 100 students participating in the fair this year. I hope to see you there!
